WindRiver Kennel's motto: "For Love of the Breed" My love is for all dogs, most notably the Rottweiler. My hope is that the motto above will lead my every decision – that everything I do will be done with the sincerest intentions for the advancement and preservation of quality Rottweilers and with a desire for the best interest of the breed and the individual dog. My dogs are first and foremost family members and companions. This can prove challenging when you have multiple big dogs of different sexes with some intact! However, all my dogs are trained for 'house manners' and get quality house time. Yes, they even get some sleeping on the bed time! They enjoy romping in the woods and in the lake at our cabin up north. They are also show dogs and are socialized and trained from a young age to enjoy and be comfortable in their kennels, ex-pens, riding in the car and a variety of other activities. I want my dogs to be good ambassadors for our breed and strongly believe in providing the training necessary to accomplish this. Rottweilers are very intelligent, working dogs – and as such need adequate physical and mental exercise. Because of this, we involve ourselves in all kinds of activities including conformation, obedience, rally, herding, agility and more. We've even challenged the whippets on the lure course a time or two!
There are four important qualities that I believe are crucial to maintaining the highest quality in our breed: structure, temperament, health and working ability. At WindRiver Kennels we will always strive to hold ourselves to the highest standards in these areas. I am a member of the American Rottweiler Club, Rottweiler Club of Alaska, The Columbia River Rottweiler Club, the Rottweiler Club of Canada (pending) and the Alaska Kennel Club.
WindRiver Kennels would like to recognize and thank Laura Tankersley of Aspengold Rottweilers for being a great mentor and wonderful friend. She has entrusted two of her puppies to WindRiver (Ripley and Magic) and considers Nova her grand-dog. I would also like to thank Marlene Lore-Keene and Vickie Joy Stansberry of Marlo's Rottweilers for entrusting Nova to me and allowing one of their precious puppies to make its home in Alaska. And last, but not least, my heartfelt gratitude to Suzanne Eikanger-Stoops of Parisans Rottweilers and Pamela Boles of Ravenscrest Rottweilers for beautiful little Domino, whom we co-own with Pam and her husband Drew. Each of my dogs has a page below with detailed information and pictures. Additionally, there is a page for Noteworthy News, Heaven Sent and Upcoming Litters.
