WindRiver Kennels

The best things in life are worth waiting for ...

A Note to Potential Puppy Parents: Finding a reputable breeder that breeds for structure, health and temperament and does their research rather than just breeding to breed is invaluable.  Since there will be a connection between you and the breeder for hopefully a good many years, it is vitally important you find someone you can develop a comfortable relationship with.  We truly believe the best things in life are worth waiting for … and there is nothing better than the joy of a long-lasting relationship with a puppy that fits your lifestyle and home.

WindRiver Kennels does not place puppies on a first come/first serve basis but instead makes our best attempt to match a puppy to the best home based on the structure and temperament of the puppy along with the prospective puppy parent’s needs, wants and living situation. Show and working homes (those interested in showing in conformation or competing in performance events such as obedience, rally, herding, agility, etc.) are given priority – Rottweilers are working dogs and not meant to be only couch potatoes! All pet companions are sold on mandatory spay/neuter contracts with limited AKC registration.

If you are interested in a puppy from WindRiver Kennels, requesting a puppy questionnaire is the first step. A puppy questionnaire is not a guarantee of placement of a puppy with you. Rather, it is an indication that you would like to be placed on the “interested” waiting list. Placement on the waiting list also does not guarantee placement of a puppy with you. Instead, it is the first step in the development of a relationship between you and me so that we can get to know one another and so that we can ensure the best match for the puppy. If you are placed on the waiting list, all I ask is that you stay in touch and let me know if you subsequently find a puppy someplace else. Those with whom we lose touch will be removed from the list.

If you are interested in learning more about this wonderful breed, I encourage you to contact me. I encourage you to read, research and become familiar with the AKC Rottweiler breed standard. Good sources of information include “The Complete Rottweiler” by Muriel Freeman, the American Rottweiler Club website (www.amrottclub.org), and the Alaska Rottweiler Club website (www.RottweilerClubOfAlaska.org).
